Tea that Invites You In: Bridging Traditions Across Continents
In our family, tea is more than a drink—it’s a ritual of warmth, of patience, and of deep connection. Inspired by the Danish concept of hygge, which celebrates the beauty of cozy, comforting moments, we set out to bring this spirit to tea culture. With Hygge Panda, our hope is to create a space where the heart of Taiwan’s tea heritage and the warmth of hygge meet, offering a place of calm, balance, and quality.

The Panda Promise
- A Decade of tea research
- 18 provinces, 31 cities in search of tea
- 120 years generational production experience
- Based in Taiwan, Yunnan, and Shandong
Supplies are very limited!
At Hygge Panda, each batch of tea we source is as unique as the season and the hillside from which it grows. Because we partner exclusively with a single family producer in Taiwan, our supply is limited by nature.
When you purchase a tea from us, you’re enjoying something both rare and personal, something that can’t be exactly reproduced. This isn’t mass production; it’s the beauty of authentic, small-batch tea, meant to be sipped and savored in all its distinctiveness.
If you see a tea you love, we encourage you to order while it’s available, as our supplies are limited. Once a batch sells out, the next will bring new characteristics, flavor profiles, and nuances.
Panda Tea
Why Panda? The panda, known for its gentle strength and humility, is a symbol of harmony and tranquility. Just like the rare and cherished panda, true tea craftsmanship is becoming more uncommon in a world of hurried production. Pandas represent patience and a deep, enduring connection with nature—qualities that resonate with our commitment to traditional, time-honored tea. With every cup, we aim to carry forward the story of the artisan hands and natural surroundings that shape each leaf.
Our Partnership
We’re honored to partner with a single tea master in Taiwan—a family who has dedicated themselves to the art of tea for over 120 years. This family’s teas, renowned for their purity and depth, are cultivated in small batches on the high mountain slopes of Taiwan, using methods passed down through generations. When our paths crossed, it felt like a natural alignment of shared values and love for the craft.
Each small harvest reflects the family’s dedication to quality over quantity, and each season’s tea carries its own distinct character, influenced by subtle changes in weather, soil, and traditional handcrafting.
A Rite of Heritage
In Chinese culture, names carry special meanings and legacies.
Our journey with this tea master is a story in itself, as he was drawn to my wife’s heritage and her family name, Xiahou, which reflects an old and respected lineage. This connection was more than business; it was a meeting of traditions, of trust and admiration between our families.
Many years we spent in search of excellent tea using the respect and reverence of our Xiahou name to gain access to markets otherwise closed to the Western world. From the deep bamboo forests of Guizhou, to the mountaintops of Lijiang, to the Southeastern shores of Xiamen. We drank tea with esteemed tea masters, conversed over rare pickings with high government officials, and endulged in extravagant cups with billionaire businessmen. 18 Chinese provinces, and 31 cities were scoured to find great tea.
Of course, at the time, we weren't exploring these exclusive markets to sell the tea, but merely to enjoy the experience! The end result: a plethora of tea resources. The first of which we bring to you through the beloved and respected Master Fang - a pure product of heritage between one of the very oldest and admired Chinese families and an uninterrupted tradition of tea honored traditional tea production spanning generations back to the 1890's.

What's a hygge anyway?
The word "hygge" comes from Danish culture and is used to describe a cozy, charming, or special moment. Its origins can be traced back to the Norwegian word "hugga", which means to comfort or to console, as well as to the Old Norse word "hugr", meaning soul, mind, or consciousness. Despite its ancient roots, "hygge" has become widely popular in recent years as a concept that encompasses feelings of warmth, contentment, and well-being.
