🌙 Presale Notice: This tea is part of our limited preorder arrangement with the Tea Master. All Sun Moon Lake orders ship together once sales close and the order is sent to the Tea Master. Teas arrive at your residence by or before the end of the month.

Smooth, rich, and full of quiet strength — Sun Moon Lake is Taiwan’s most cherished black tea.

Grown in the rolling hills of Nantou County, this tea draws its depth from mineral-rich soil and warm mountain air. Each cup reveals layers of caramel, wood, and soft spice, carried by a naturally sweet finish that lingers long after the last sip.

Unlike most black teas, Sun Moon Lake brews with remarkable smoothness — no bitterness, only warmth and balance. It’s the kind of tea that comforts without effort, grounding you in stillness and simple pleasure.

For tea drinkers in Wyoming, this preorder offers a rare chance to enjoy a tea that embodies both heritage and heart — handcrafted by a Taiwanese Tea Master and delivered fresh from the source to your door.

Our Offering

Depth and warmth meet in this limited-harvest Sun Moon Lake Black Tea.

Hand-picked from small gardens in Taiwan’s Nantou County, each leaf is carefully rolled and fully oxidized to create a smooth, amber liquor with notes of wood, spice, and gentle sweetness.

Sun Moon Lake is a tea that invites stillness — best enjoyed slowly, as the day settles and the mind unwinds. Every cup is a quiet reflection of its mountain home: steady, grounded, and full of calm energy.

Offered exclusively through our preorder campaign, this tea represents a direct connection between master craftsmanship and your table. Backers help fund this season’s sourcing and packaging run — all orders are submitted to the Tea Master once sales close and shipped immediately to your doorstep.

Background of the tea

Sun Moon Lake (日月潭, Rì Yuè Tán) sits in the heart of Taiwan’s Nantou County — a region known for its still waters, gentle fog, and rich red soil that gives its black tea a naturally sweet depth.

The tea grown here traces its lineage to the Assamica variety, brought to Taiwan in the early 20th century and later cultivated into unique local hybrids prized for their smooth, honeyed flavor and reddish liquor. Today, Sun Moon Lake teas are considered the crown jewel of Taiwanese black teas — rich, aromatic, and full of character.

Each batch reflects the quiet beauty of its origin: warm mountain air, fertile earth, and the patient craft of generations who’ve made this region synonymous with quality and care.

Brewing Guide

. Leaf ratio: 1 g tea / 50 mL water (≈ 4 g per 6 oz cup)

  • Water temp: 90 – 95 °C (194 – 203 °F)
  • Rinse: Quick 5 sec to awaken the leaves
  • Steep 1: 30 sec  |  Steep 2: 25 sec  |  Steep 3+ : +10 sec each
  • Note: Keep early infusions short — longer steeps can bring out a strong intensity that hides the tea’s natural sweetness.
  • Gongfu style: Excellent for 5–7 short infusions revealing smooth caramel and warm spice notes
  • Storage: Store sealed in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and odors
