Giant Panda Protection Fund

A long-term mission to support the protection, rehabilitation, and release of a giant panda into the wild.

This is a breakdown of how contribution funds for conservation work in action.

Save a Life!

$1 of every 50g of tea sold is donated directly by Hygge Panda to help raise a Giant Panda from birth to release into the wild.

The Reality

There are less than 2,000 giant pandas living on the earth today.

Lets Break it Down

It costs roughly 2.5 million dollars to raise a panda.

Here is a breakdown of how that money is typically spent.

$250,000

$500,000

What impact does a $12 donation have?

$12 can provide roughly one day of specialized formula for a panda cub in a nursery.

$12 supplies roughly 5-12 lbs. of bamboo. This covers approximately 25% of the daily minimum requirement for one adult panda.

$750,000

$1,000,000

$1,250,000

What impact does a $60 donation have?

$60 funds essential vaccines and medications for a panda residing in a conservation center, helping prevent diseases like canine distemper.

$60 supplies roughly 25-60 lbs. of bamboo. This can provide a full day's worth of food for an average-sized adult giant panda.

Every little bit helps

It's taken roughly 26 years for the giant panda to move from being classified as Endangered (around 1990) to Vulnerable (in 2016) on the IUCN Red List.

$1,500,000

$1,750,000

$2,000,000

What impact does a $120 donation have?

$120 provides a veterinary toolkit or high-quality medical supplies for caretakers to use during routine health checks for wild-training pandas.

$120 supplies roughly 50-120 lbs. of bamboo. This provides a full day of high-volume feeding, including the extra bamboo often provided to "picky" pandas who only eat the most tender shoots and leaves.

What impact does a $1,000 donation have?

$1,000 provides approximately 1,100 to 1,500 lbs of fresh bamboo (2026 wholesale rates). This amount is enough to feed a single adult panda for one full month.

$1,000 contributes significantly toward high-cost items like a mobile ultrasound or incubation sensors for neonatal care.

$1,000 can fund the installation of several infrared surveillance cameras in semi-wild enclosures to monitor a panda's progress in foraging and predator avoidance without human interference.
